TODAY IS MY SISTER'S BIRTHDAY.....

and I wanted to make a little something different for her special occasion. So this is what I came up with. It's all about paper folding.
The sentiment "just thinking of you on your birthday" pops up as the card opens. Also inside the card, I stamped another sentiment on a piece of vanilla card stock and that's where I signed.
Then I made a belly band to hold the folded card together. I used the FANCY FLOWER stamp set, First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper, Wisteria 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon and card stock, Old Olive and Very Vanilla card stock and the Bird Builder punch.
I hate I can't take credit for this cute card ~ it was cased from another demonstrator. If you wish to have her information, email me at shirley.mckay@ymail.com.
"When the first light of sun, bless you. When the long day is done, bless you. In your smiles and your tears, bless you. Through each day of your years, bless you. " ~ Irish Blessing
Happy Birthday Wishes Sue...I love and miss you! Enjoy your special day!

Stampin'Up! PUNCHES

WOW .... I can't believe how long I've been away. Thanks for joining me today! I've got a lot of things to catch up on ~ most important and foremost, the 8th birthday of our one and only granddaughter. Below please see the birthday card I made for her special day. She is a girly girl so there can never be enough pink or bling. The bodice of the dress is made using the Round Tab punch, the neck is scooped out using the 1 1/4" Circle punch and the layers for the skirt are made using the Blossom Petals Builder punch. I used Vellum card stock, took a dauber and Pretty In Pink classic ink and tinted the petals for the skirt. I then layered the petals and added the Rhinestone Jewels for the bling.

Here's the inside of the card using the Easy Events stamp set featured on page 57 of the 2011/12 Idea Book & Catalog.

Well I just had to have a personalized stamp to use on the back of all her cards. See page 172 of the IB&C and order yours today.

OK, hope you won't get bored but just wanted to share some photos of her party. It was at .....

Laura and her guests had their hair done, makeup applied and fingernails polished.

Then they were off to change into their "diva" outfits. Laura is in black ~ next to one of her friends that's pointing to the screen at the other end of the room. The lights are about to go off, the disco light is about to come on and the music is about to begin. They are just before posing on the runway. Oh, they were something else but so cute!

So once the dancing was over, it was time to have cake and ice cream. Just love the decor in this place. Awesome!

And here's the gift bags you saw in an earlier post but didn't they look good? (even if I do say so myself)

OK, the cake and ice cream have been devoured and it's time now to ride around Katy in a limo. I'm a little envious being that I've never been in a limo. I'm old and she's only 8. What's wrong with this picture?

Thanks for allowing me to be a grandmother and sharing this wonderful occasion with you. I hope you'll check back tomorrow as I've got a few more things to share with you! Have a wonderful day. Do something good for yourself and stamp daily!

Stampin'Up! BIRTHDAY Card

IT'S FRIDAY ~ thanks for joining me! Today's post is a card that my sister, Sue, made for one of her camps before the new catalog came out. This designer series paper is retired but think of the possibilities using current paper. I can see using this design for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I love how the card opens.

You'll be seeing another sample of this shortly ~ I've got to make a decision as to which DSP I'm going to use. Thanks so much Sue for the ideas you shared with me while in the Carolinas; can't wait to share with my Texan Stamping Groups.

Until next time, do something good for yourself; stamp daily!

Still Celebrating....

What a week I've had; it's Thursday and I'm still celebrating! Here's the bouquet of flowers I received on Monday from my sweet family. This was taken after the 7 year old granddaughter had taken one rose and one carnation.

I received this birthday card from my friend, Bernice M. She used the Springtime Vintage DSP which is one of my very favorites. Thanks Bernie!

Even though Easter is over, I couldn't resist showing this card that I received from another friend, Doris D. This little rabbit is retired but it's one I just can't part with. So many possibilities with this little guy. Thank you Doris. Today I'm lifting up prayers for those affected by the killer tornadoes these last few days. Thank goodness my NC family and friends are OK and not affected.
I'm glad you stopped by today; hope to see you back here soon!

Still Celebrating.....

I love getting cards and sharing with you designs created by my friends. I received this card for my birthday from my upline and BFF, Karen H. Karen used my favorite Sale-A-Bration stamp set, PUNCH BUNCH.

And check out this cake....isn't it beautiful? My neighbor, Diane, baked it for me for my birthday. I hope you will take time to see her other creations at "thatsgoodcake.tripod.com". Diane is so talented. I put the cake in the freezer saving it until we celebrate AGAIN this weekend when my husband is here.

Can't wait to cut into it ~ know it is going to be delicious!

I'm glad you stopped by today; hope to see you again soon! Have a good one!

Celebrating the BIG 6 0

Yesterday was my birthday.....the big 6 0!! I had a wonderful day thanks to my family and friends. Life is what you make it and in this season of my life I really try to celebrate"each" day and not just my "birth" day.

Todays share is a birthday card I received from my friend and downline, Donna S. I love the springy colors and design she used. This is a great card to have on hand for any occasion.

Thanks Donna for remembering my special day with such a lovely card.

For all the other TAURUS' out there (April 21-May 21) here's a saying I've held on to for years: " Yours is a devoted heart. Strong, Steadfast, and True. You enjoy all the finer things, the luxuries of life. And the warmth of love and home. Your colors are pale blue and mauve...the colors of tenderness." Estee Lauder

Enjoy your day and I hope you will take the time to stamp something today. Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.

Stampin'Up! FRIENDS NEVER FADE & BRING ON THE CAKE Stamp Sets

I think I'm stuck on the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.....I love it!
My card today is another quick card and a great one to use up some scraps of designer series paper you have on hand.
The base of the card is Chocolate Chip; layered with Baja Breeze (run through the Big Shot using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder) and Greenhouse Gala DSP. The Birthday Wishes sentiment is out of the BRING ON THE CAKE stamp set and on top of that I used a stamp out of the FRIENDS NEVER FADE set.
The BRING ON THE CAKE stamp set and FRAMED TULIPS embossing folder are in the Occasions Mini Catalog that runs through April 30th. To order, go to my Stampin'Up! Website, shirleybmckay.stampinup.net.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Stampin'Up! Create A Cupcake

I had my first stamp camp since being in TX last night AND it was the first time my daughter and 7 year old granddaughter had ever been to one. I was so excited to have them here and was really impressed at how well they did. The 7 year old kept up amazingly well.
If you have questions or would like dimensions for any of the cards shown, I will be glad to share
them with you. Just email me at shirley.mckay@ymail.com.

Stampin'Up! Awash With Flowers

I'm sharing with you today the card that Sue designed for Renda's camp which was 8/16. She used the Awash With Flowers and Flight of the Butterflies stamp sets. Sue also used the Big Shot to cut out the butterflies. Such a simple yet pretty card.
For Renda's group, we make favors for the ladies. This month, Sue designed this pencil holder. It was just in time as school started yesterday in our area. Renda, who is a teacher, loves ideas for her students. For more information or instructions on how to make, contact Sue at csoehler@bellsouth.net.

Stampin'Up! Pun Fun

Stampin'Up! makes it so easy to create a card and/or scrapbook page.....
just open their catalog, turn to any page and CASE (copy and steal everything).
This design was copied from page 76 of the catalog. You'll notice I changed up the colors and added a few things. Tomorrow I will show you another card cased right out of the catalog. Sue and I have learned in teaching our classes that there's no reason to reinvent the wheel especially when there are so many samples available in the catalog.
Hope to see you again tomorrow!
All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. Psalm 86:9
Deepest sympathy is extended to Karen H, my upline, in the sudden loss of her husband this past Friday. I pray for friends to comfort her, faith to uphold her and loving memories to heal her heart.

Good morning....I'm late posting today as I've had some computer problems the last few days. Hopefully, thanks to my daughter, son-in-law and hubby, I'm back up and running.
Today I'm sharing with you another card using the Greenhouse Gala Designer Series paper. There is not a design in the pack that I don't like. Can you tell? The base of the card is Chocolate Chip, then I used Pumpkin Pie behind the designer paper. The bottom portion of the card, is Baja Breeze which I ran through the Big Shot using the Background Texturz Plates, and the Birthday Wishes sentiment came from the Watercolor Trio stamp set.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day and I hope you'll join me again tomorrow!

Stampin'Up! Wings of Friendship

Yesterday, I told you to check today's post for another card using the Wings of Friendship. Well here it is. I came up with this design for a workshop that Lucy H. hosted yesterday. There's lots of possibilities with this set...it's too bad you can only have it by hosting a workshop. To find out how to become a hostess, email me at shirleym@ctc.net.

Stampin'Up! Lady Bug

The Pick A Petal stamp set is so versatile. I'm amazed at the different cards that you can make using this set. How do you like the lady bug? I cased this idea but made changes to suit me.
If you're interested in this set, I hope you will order it directly from my SU website. The item number is 115042.

It's TAX day but better yet, it's ERIC'S 30th birthday

Our son, Eric ~ the baby, is 30 today......WOW where does the time go?
This is the card I made for him. I used the Basic Gray, Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White card stock; the large star punch (110710); star punch (109045) and silver brad in middle of star (104336). The "happy birthday" is from a retired stamp set.
On the inside of the card, I used the candle from the Big Birthday Candle stamp set and the 29 candles at the bottom are from the Birthday
Banter stamp set (both retired).

Can you tell there are those stamp sets that I just can't seem to get rid of. You just never know when you might need those candles, right?
Best wishes to Eric on "his" special day!
